MRC Pontiac holds townhall meetings on the Energy from Waste (EFW) project

Litchfield, QC – March 21st, 2024
Following the meeting of the Council of Mayors held on March 20, the MRC Pontiac is organizing
five public meetings to present the initial business case for the Energy from Waste project. This
business case was prepared by Deloitte and Ramboll as the result of the adoption by the Council of
Mayors of resolution C. M. EX-2023-10-05 on October 25, 2023. There will be an opportunity to ask
questions. Each meeting will present the same material and provide an update to all residents.
The MRC wishes to state that this is a project led entirely by the MRC Pontiac. The Council of
Mayors also recognizes the need to increase recycling and composting to meet the Quebec
government’s requirements, which will come into force in 2025. Finally, concerning the Energy from
Waste project, the Council of Mayors wants to assure residents that this project will only move
forward if it’s considered healthy for the MRC Pontiac. We will work closely with the Environment
Ministry of Québec.
